The Seychelles Pension Fund’s Board of Trustees has donated 21 hampers to the residents of the North East Point Rehabilitation center, an initiative led by its Chairman Mr. Marc Houareau. In a short ceremony held at the center on Friday 17th December 2021, Mr. Jose St. Ange, a Board member representative presented the hampers to Mrs. Marie Antoinette Hoareau, the Principal Nursing Officer for Hospital Nursing who received the gift on behalf of the patients, a few of which were in attendance.
The SPF Board of Trustees tabled the need to look back towards the needy in the society as one of the items on their meeting agenda earlier this year. Mr. St Ange stated that there is a need to reach out as a group to support a cause within the festive season to bring about Christmas cheers to the less fortunate at this time of the year. Additional he commented on the timeliness of the event in view of the Covid 19 pandemic restrictions which limits visitors to the patients. On her part Mrs. Hoareau reiterated the point pertaining to disruption with regards to visitors to the patients and expressed her appreciation towards this act of kindness which she is certain will bring a smile to the faces of the patients.
The hampers were carefully packaged to include essential, healthy everyday products like oat milk, Complan, powder and goodies to add to the flavor of the festive season.
In his closing remarks of the activity, which may be the first of its kind in Seychelles, Mr. St Ange called on other Boards to consider joining with similar acts of care to donate back to the society.
